Today our NJHS did a fantastic job reading to our Kindergarten students!

We would like to extend our appreciation to the PTO for sponsoring our elementary lunch carts! Thank you for all that you do for our students.
The past 12 days have brought lots of cold and rainy weather. We would like to express appreciation to our staff that help to facilitate morning arrival. They consistently welcome our students with smiles and words of encouragement regardless of what the weather has in store.
Today our 8th graders debated the pros and cons of electric vehicles. They were joined by some of their 7th grade peers who weighed in on their debate skills.
Today Grade 1 students played "Roll a Sight Word". Students rolled their die, read the sight word, and then wrote the sight word in the box below the word. The game continued until one sight word column was full or until the entire board was filled.
Today we hosted our second Healthbarn USA assembly as we continue to place emphasis on living a healthy lifestyle. Students enjoyed learning about the benefits of fruits and vegetables!
Today our 8th graders were treated to a presentation on Internet Safety from the Bergen County Prosecutors Office.
Grade 4 students played a game of "Headband" in Science today. Students wore headbands with secret 'key words' from their Energy unit to wear on their headbands. Next, students took turns providing clues to help their classmates uncover their assigned word!
Members of the NPS Student Council travelled to the College Of New Jersey to attend the NJ Association of Student Councils winter meeting.
After completing a water cycle lab, our students created poems and raps to properly describe the steps of the water cycle.
Grade 1 students are working on counting by tens. Our teachers are doing a great job of linking content to real life by providing examples. A couple provided examples were baking cookies and counting lego pieces!
Students enjoyed "Reading Races" with "Nike". These races were different from the ones done in PE! Instead of running around, students practiced their Short "E" CVC words while being timed on a stopwatch. Both, Nike and our students had a blast!

Extending a special "thank you" to our fantastic PTO for organizing the SkyDome Planetarium visit, which provided our students with an engaging and educational experience about the wonders of the solar system.
This week, our Kindergarteners have been using their decoding skills to help build their fluency with reading!
This week, our teachers did an outstanding job of not only maintaining the momentum of instruction but also infusing a touch of the Winter season into the curriculum.
Our students had a very special greeting as they entered our building today!
